Just got screwed on insurance…my fault

Just got screwed on insurance…my fault

Like this..

Had 7 yrs NCB.

Went off bikes for 3 yrs, so lost my NCB.

Got back on in 2014 on VRF800 for €500

After 1 year got renewal with Principal for €300

Changed to Blade 1 month into policy & paid €200 extra for remainder of year.

Then in Jan this year, got new Gixer & gave another €150 for remainder of policy.

So renewal date is in 2 weeks time & the following is renewal quotes for comp ins, locked steel garage for 2 yrs NCB for 42 year old male with 2 penalty points on 16 GSXR 1000

Liberty – wont insure bike

MCE – €1088 – €1500 excess:lbhbh:

CN – €917 – €350 excess

Principal – which Im currently with – €1056. Rang them back, saaying I’d cheaper quote & got it down to €790.

AXA – No answer from phone

Cornmarket – €788 – but have to show proof of ground anchor in garage.

TBH….well pissed off with mad quotes.

Taking my car off the road this year also cos of mad insurance (16 year old corolla)

Looking at buying a CB500, any thoughts?

Looking at buying a CB500, any thoughts?

As the title says, I’ve been looking at a CB500 as an upgrade from my dodgy Chinese 125, it’ll be my first big bike. I’m on the provisional a2 so will have to restrict it to 47hp, does the CB cope well with restriction?

Insurance has been a bit of a bitch to get, most places refusing to even quote me due to my age, and not having a full license. (18 going 19 in May) I have one year no claims, 2 years in August. Was quoted about 1600 for TP :wassat: Anything I can say to get this lowered?

The bike is in reasonable condition, more cosmetic niggles than anything else. Bikes done roughly 26000 mi from what I remember when I looked at it. did a motor history check and i found out it was imported from the UK in 2001, is this a red flag?

First registered in 98 only two owners, left a small deposit and meant to be picking it up Saturday from Cityspares, haven’t dealt with these lads before can anyone speak to their character?

So anything I should look out for?

Vfr clutch bleed.

Vfr clutch bleed.

How’s things lads, I was doing a general tidy up of me 98 Vfr and had the clutch slave cylinder Off the bike when the three year old pulled the lever expelling the slave cylinder piston. I’m no expert mechanic but I said I’d have a go at putting it back in and bleeding the clutch. Did as most online things say to do and eventually got decent lever after an age. Then the lever got very heavy. Heavier than what I think it felt like before.

Any ideas what the problem might be?

Cheers

Tom

Seized Engine

Seized Engine

I just bought a bike for restoration, the lad i bought it from says the engine is weather seized, the motor is a 650cc single cylinder.

My first thoughts are to spray wd40 into spark plug hole to see if this will free piston. The engine is probably going to be rebuilt/rebored.

Anybody any other tips??
