Colin Appleyard MBE

Colin Appleyard MBE
Colin Appleyard, the well known motor cycle dealer from Keighley has died today at the age of 79.
Colin spent 20 years at my father’s shop, (Allan Jefferies Motorcycles), before embarking on running his own shop in 1971. Colin put a huge effort into racing, from being a competitor on solos and sidecars in the 50s and 60s, to sponsoring his son Robin at British and World Championship level, and subsequently sponsoring countless trials, moto x, and road race competitors in every level of the sport. He was also incredibly successful in business, with a number of car outlets in addition to his motorcycle shop.
He has been a friend for the whole of my life, and I honestly believe that Colin’s presence will be sorely missed throughout the motor cycle industry, and the sport. Some years ago he was awarded the MBE for his services to motorcycling.
He leaves behind his widow Peggy whom he married 55 years ago, and his two children Robin, and Judith.

R.I.P. Colin, you were one of the best.

Brinny Motocross

Brinny Motocross

Hey everyone. I was racing sunday 21st june in brinny in cork in the mx2 class. First race third lap and as the description says i had a crash bang wollop over the table top. The only person to claim to have seen the incident was a kid about 8 years old. I have no memory of it whatsoever. The medics reckon i was out cold for about 3 minutes. The kid says as i came over the jump i landed but the front wheel took a wobble and i went over the handle bars and they believe the bike came down on top of me. Battered and bruised but nothing broken thankfully. Out of work for almost 3 weeks but could have been worse. The bike hasnt a scratch on it as to be expected. The helmet slightly cracked and the cut all my gear off which apparently at the time i was like a lunatic over.

first of all a huge thanks to the order of malta for looking after me. i was let out of the hospital close to midnight so no over nighter. i also wanna say a huge thanks to everyone that helped stacey ( Fiancé) gather up all the gear and get the jeep and trailer loaded up. also the lads that helped my dad and brother strap up the bike on the trailer when they arrived to collect it.

I guess the one thing i would love to know is if there was anyone on here that was at the race if the saw anything or have and idea as to what happened it be great.

handy cheap way for bleeding out you hydraulic brakes or clutch

costs 1euro from any pert store,
the aquarium air stone valve only lets liquid one way so you can leave your nipple open and pump away, tube is cheap too if you dont already have one petshop got em,
I used an old resivor as a old fluid chamber , just put a breather hole in it.
but you can use anything as a run off bag.:bag:
Just in case the idea is useful to anyone:thumbsup2:
I used this to change the fluid without any bother,
If you worried about any air I heard that cable ting your levers will leave any air bubbles rise to your res, dunno about that? hopfully there will be none.
:thumbsup2:

Selling the missus bike, hasnt turned a wheel this year, she got it with great intentions but its taking up space at this stage! since owning the bike shes done 642 miles. we put brand new tyres on it when bought it, the petrol tank lock was siezed so we put a keyless fuel cap, when purchased it had 2 small marks, they were very small so never bothered to get them touched up (about the size of a nail) has a single seat cowl also!

Great bike for a beginner :thumbsup2:

Blackbird battery dead

Category : The Workshop

Blackbird battery dead

I just had my 2000 Blackbird in for a chain and sprocket replacement. All went fine, then drove 5 miles home. Went to start it again 5 minutes later and although the fuel pump worked I had to resort to bump starting it.

Any ideas?

I can’t imagine the bike shop could have done anything by changing the chain and sprockets?
