MZ TS 250/1 front brake modification (maybe)
For my next trick I ran a 16mm drill through the axle hole of the brake plate (axle is 15mm) to allow the brake shoes a little bit of room to self-centre when the brake is applied
I made a shim to fit over the brake cam to push the brake shoes closer to the brake drum but I had to abandon that plan because the brake assembly wouldn’t fit in the brake drum with the shim fitted. At least now I know that there is very little clearance between the brake linings & the drum, which can’t be a bad thing
The brake drum is in good nick, no pits or ridges
I put everything back together so the next item on the agenda is a road test when I can get around to it. One peculiar thing that I noticed when I stripped the brake is that the wear on the old linings is at the trailing end rather than at the leading end. That will need further investigation after the first road test.

Hobby Workshop Mullingar
I currently have done some projects previously on here and do some work for mates etc etc.
My dilemma is if I buy anymore projects then I will be shot at home..!! I currently have 3.
But I thoroughly enjoy working on bikes as a hobby.
So what I am doing is offering my services. I am a qualified mechanic and mechanical engineer by trade. I do have a full time job, so do all my work at night times.
I know lots of you out there have jobs that you need doing and its hard to scratch together the money to get it done.
I have all the ways of working and am willing to offer my services for any repairs/servicing work that anyone would like done on their pride and joy. I am very particular about my bikes. My rates are nothing compared to full time garages with all their overheads.
As said this is something I love so if I can make just a few bob to help pay for the next upgrade on my bikes, then I am happy out..!
Also willing to do work for the dead and gone “barter system”… so if you feel you have a service that I can avail of then we may be able to come to a suitable arrangement…
Please feel free to get in touch.
